LINDA DOVE
Linda Dove holds a Ph.D. in Renaissance literature and teaches college writing. She is also an award-winning poet, and her books include, In Defense of Objects (2009), O Dear Deer, (2011), This Too (2017), Fearn (2019), and Switchfish (2023), as well as the scholarly collection of essays, Women, Writing, and the Reproduction of Culture in Tudor and Stuart Britain (2000). Poems have been nominated for a Pushcart Prize, the Robert H. Winner Award from the Poetry Society of America, Best of the Net, and Best Microfiction. She lives at the eastern edge of Los Angeles, where she serves as the faculty editor of MORIA Literary Magazine at Woodbury University.
CONTEST INFORMATION
Submission Period: May 20 — June 20, 2024.
All submissions through Submittable with a $5 reading fee.
Poets may submit up to 3 previously unpublished poems, 5 pages maximum.
Cover letter should include a third-person biography of approximately 75 words.
Submission file should not include your name or any other identifying information.
Previous first prize winners (including HeartWood’s former Broadside Contest) are not eligible, nor are associates, friends, or students of the judge.
Current or past employees, current or past students, and alumni of the MFA program at WVWC are not eligible.
Simultaneous submissions are accepted. Let us know immediately if your work has been accepted elsewhere by sending us a note through Submittable.
Submissions not adhering to our guidelines will not be considered.
